Two Months Old

Language Development
*Makes new sounds, including squeaking and gurgling noises
*Turns to familiar voices
*Makes sounds with saliva
*Begins to take turns making sounds with parents or caregiver

Social/Emotional Development
*Gurgles, chuckles, ans smiles when happy
*Calms when sucks on fingers, bottles, or pacifier
*Cries less when needs are consistently met
*Enjoys looking at self in mirror

Intellectual Development
*Watches people and objects move around the room
*Has a growing interest in new things
*Stares at hands
*Will briefly hold objects placed in his/her hand

Motor Development
*Moves arms and legs more smoothly
*Is awake and more active during the day
*Can hold head up for a few seconds when on
stomach
*May lift chest off the floor
*Can hold objects for a short time

Other Great Tips
*Your baby will sleep better at night, and also may have a consisstent routine of eating and sleeping.

*Never put your baby to bed with a bottle, and never prop a bottle up for feeding.

*Only give your baby breast milk, formula, or water. Other liquids containing sugar cause tooth decay.

*Make sure your baby's pacifier and bottles are properly sterilized to prevent the spreading of germs.
